Four million fewer people gave to charity last year than in 2019.

That comes from the Charities Aid Foundation's UK Giving Report, drawn from a survey of more than 13,000 people: just 50% of the UK public donated in the last 12 months, down from 58%.

At the same time, demand for charity services keeps rising.

Which leaves charities with one of the hardest communication challenges there is: asking for more, from fewer people, at a worse time.

Here's what we keep seeing, though. When giving shrinks, the instinct is to shout louder. More appeals, more urgency, more channels.

But a smaller pool of donors doesn't need more noise. They need more clarity.

The charities still growing are not the loudest ones.

They're the ones whose message answers those three questions before anyone has to ask.

If you work for a charity and your campaigns feel like they're working harder for less, lets see if we can help.

The bigger picture.

Every brand has something worth saying. The challenge is helping the right people hear it. If you're wrestling with that too, we'd love to have a conversation.
